This is a super simple plugin which displays a full page welcome ad for visitors. I created this plugin out of necessity as I needed a welcome ad plugin that would adhere the new Google Ad Experience guidelines for interstitial ads. The requirements state that no content can be visible to a user before your interstitial appears, that means even if your content flashes for a split second before your ad shows your site will not pass.

Like the title of the plugin says, this is super simple. The welcome ad has only a few options, feel free to request new features and I can try to incorporate.

The welcome ad is designed to NOT show on mobile devices only Desktops.

Our site was flagged by the Google Ad Experience report for the entry-pops we were using (mostly for serving welcome ads). Google said they’d start blocking ALL ads on our site on Google Chrome within 30 days. The problem is that most promo tool like Sumo, Thrive, ConvertPro, etc. show content on a page and then show the entry-pop. That violates Google’s guidelines. But this plugin shows the entry pop / welcome ad first with a ghosted image of the site behind it … before it ever shows actual content. For some reason, this does NOT violate Google Ad Experience guidelines. Bottom line, we can now serve our welcome ads again without violating the Google Ad Experience report. Plugin was easy to install and configure, and the developer has been responsive to new ideas and a couple of feature requests.
